Norbrook hails success of recent equine stomach scoping day
Norbrook Laboratories has highlighted the success of a recent equine stomach scoping day held on February 9th at GB Eventing stalwart Sharon Hunt’s Suffolk yard.
The free event was run in partnership with the Rossdales and Partners veterinary surgery in Newmarket and focused on identifying gastric ulcers through the utilisation of a gastroscope.
During the session, Ms Hunt had a number of her own animals scoped, alongside other horses that were brought to the session by local owners. As a result, a number of horses were found to have gastric ulcers.
The aim of this event was to raise awareness of equine gastric ulcer syndrome, which currently affects 80 to 90 percent of racehorses, over 60 percent of competition horses and up to 50 percent of leisure horses and foals.
Ms Hunt said: "I'm very grateful to Norbrook for having the opportunity to scope my horses and I also speak for the other lucky volunteers."
Earlier this month, the company announced the appointment of Richard Palmer, formerly of Novartis, as its new global head of sales and marketing. In doing so, it hopes to maintain its recent strong growth rate.
