Leica launches DFC7000 T multipurpose camera for microscopy

Leica has announced the launch of its newdigital CCD (charge-coupled device) colour camera, Leica DFC7000 T, which is designed to offer versatile performance in microscopy.

Developed for both fluorescence and brightfield applications, the device is based on the Sony ICX674AQG CCD sensor with Exview HAD II technology, featuring a resolution of 2.8 megapixels.

Its high resolution and distinctive colour fidelity make it suitable for acquiring brightfield images, but it is also able to detect fluorescence signals thanks to its high signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity, allowing it to deliver crisp images.

This versatility allows users to save time, as they do not need to change cameras during their experiments.

Dr Karin Schwab, product manager of Leica Microsystems, said: "Users can obtain fluorescence and brightfield images with only one device, sparing laborious camera changes. In addition, users can perform outstanding multi-color fluorescence imaging."
