Cook Medical introduces new SialoCath Salivary Duct Catheter

Cook Medical has announced the launch of a new flexible, soft-tipped, single-lumen catheter for the treatment of obstructive salivary gland disorders.

Designed to irrigate the salivary duct and flush out stone fragments, the SialoCath Salivary Duct Catheter is indicated for use in the submandibular or parotid glands and can be inserted into a salivary duct over a wire guide, or through a Kolenda Introducer Sheath.

It is a minimally invasive tool for treating patients during in-office or surgical sialendoscopy procedures and comes as part of a wider range of sialendoscopy access and interventional tools from Cook.

The new catheter is being made available soon to customers in the US, Canada and selected European markets.

Thomas Cherry, global leader of Cook's otolaryngology/head and neck surgery (OHNS) clinical division, said: "The development of this catheter is part of Cook's long-standing commitment to creating innovative devices that fulfill clinical needs."

Cook launched its OHNS division in Europe in 2013 and has since released a number of products to treat salivary gland disease, chronic rhinosinusitis, vocal cord paralysis and obstructive sleep apnoea.
