Colgate appoints John P Bilbrey to board of directors

Colgate-Palmolive has announced that a new member has been appointed to its board of directors.

John P Bilbrey, who is the president and chief executive officer of confectionery firm The Hershey Company, will join the board following the resignation of Joseph Jimenez.

Mr Bilbrey will bring with him a wide range of knowledge of the consumer goods industry to his new position, having worked for 12 years at The Hershey Company, and held executive positions at Mission foods and Danone Waters of North America.

He also spent 22 years at The Procter and Gamble Company, where he moved up the ranks through roles of increasing responsibility, meaning that he brings a wealth of leadership experience to the director's board as well.

Mr Jiminez, who is also the chief executive officer of pharmaceutical firm Novartis, has served on the board since 2010. The directors passed on their sincere thanks to him for his contributions over the past five years.
