AbbVie to present hepatitis C drug data at ILC 2015
AbbVie has announced that it will be attending the International Liver Congress (ILC) in Vienna later this month, where it will be presenting its latest hepatitis C research findings.
During the conference, which runs from April 22nd to 26th, the company will be presenting a total of 29 abstracts, including data from phase IIIb studies assessing the combination regimen of Viekirax plus Exviera.
Data from a head-to-head comparison of AbbVie's three direct-acting antiviral treatments with telaprevir-based therapy will be discussed, as will results from phase II/III studies investigating the combination treatment in genotype 1 and genotype 4 hepatitis C.
Additionally, data from phase I studies of the early-stage compounds ABT-493 and ABT-530 will be presented.
Dr Michael Severino, executive vice-president, research and development and chief scientific officer at AbbVie, said: "We are studying the diverse populations seen in clinical practice and expanding our research and development, including our new hepatitis pipeline compounds."
Viekirax and Exviera were approved in Europe as an all-oral short-course treatment regimen for chronic hepatitis C earlier this year.
