Sandoz wins Alufoil Trophy for design of AirFluSal Forspiro inhaler

21st April 2015

Sandoz has announced that its innovative respiratory inhaler AirFluSal Forspiro has won an award presented by the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA).

The device has earned the Alufoil Trophy 2015 in the product preservation category due to its cutting-edge design, which incorporates an alufoil blister strip developed by Amcor Flexibles that prolongs the shelf life of the inhalation powder.

Presented annually by the EAFA, the Alufoil Trophy recognises and rewards the creative use of aluminium foil and aluminium closures in various fields and applications.

This comes after the inhaler previously won the Red Dot Product Design Award, an internationally recognised quality seal awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, back in 2011.

Jan-Torsten Tews, global head of the respiratory franchise at Sandoz International, said: "True innovation in this field is not just about frontline design, but also about rethinking the whole packaging development process to optimise product efficacy and quality."

Sandoz is one of the leading producers of generic medicines in the world, with a portfolio that includes around 1,100 high-quality molecules.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801784493-ADNFCR
