Biotronik reports positive trial data on Orsiro drug-eluting stent

29th May 2015

Biotronik has announced the findings of a new study showing the benefits of using its Orsiro hybrid drug-eluting stent.

One-year results from the SORT OUT VII trial confirmed Orsiro's non-inferiority to the bioabsorbable polymer biolimus-eluting Nobori stent in an all-comers population, as well as its significantly lower rate of definite stent thrombosis.

This is because Orsiro offers an ultra-thin strut stent design to enable greater flexibility and improved apposition to the vessel wall, as well as quicker endothelialisation following percutaneous coronary intervention.

The results confirm the previous conclusions of the Bioscience study, which was the largest independent comparison between the Orsiro and Xience Prime stents to date.

Dr Daniel Buehler, president for Biotronik's vascular interventions division, said: "We are certain that Orsiro’s advanced ultra-thin strut design and outstanding drug deliverability will continue to impress."

This comes after the firm presented new data on Orsiro at the EuroPCR 2015 conference that took place earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801789291-ADNFCR
