Shire names new non-executive board member
Shire has announced the appointment of Olivier Bohuon as a non-executive member of its board of directors, as well as a member of its science and technology committee.
Mr Bohuon is the current chief executive officer of Smith and Nephew, a role he has occupied since 2011. He has extensive international business and leadership experience across a number of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, and also serves as a non-executive director for Virbac.
Prior to Smith and Nephew, Mr Bohuon served as the chief executive officer and president of Pierre Fabre and as president of Abbott Pharmaceuticals.
He will take up his new responsibilities with Shire on July 1st and will aid the company in executing on its growth plans.
Susan Kilsby, Shire's chairman, said Mr Bohuon will bring "direct experience and deep knowledge of pharmaceuticals and healthcare in today's fast-changing global environment, as well as executive and board leadership in dynamic industries such as medical technology".
Last month, the company was acknowledged as the most reputable US-based healthcare company in a report compiled by the Reputation Institute and published in Forbes magazine.
