Unilever to acquire professional skincare brand Dermalogica

25th June 2015

Unilever has announced the acquisition of the US-based professional skincare brand Dermalogica for an undisclosed fee.

Dermalogica is the leading skincare brand in professional salons and spas worldwide, with products sold in more than 80 countries. It offers a range of in-home products and a specialist offering for professional skin therapists.

The brand, which had a turnover of $240 million (152.51 million pounds) in 2014, will be incorporated into Unilever's prestige division.

Jane and Raymond Wurwand, who founded Dermalogica in 1986, will retain an interest in the company following the takeover and will work with Unilever to drive the future growth of the brand.

Paul Polman, Unilever's chief executive officer, said: "Dermalogica enjoys an outstanding reputation and incredible awareness among skin care professionals and consumers alike, and has a clear positioning as a superior skin health brand that perfectly complements the rest of our prestige offering."

This follows the company's purchases of Kate Somerville Skincare and Ren Skincare earlier this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801792405-ADNFCR
