Medtronic names new head of restorative therapies group

29th June 2015

Medtronic has announced the appointment of Geoff Martha as executive vice-president and president of its restorative therapies group (RTG) with immediate effect.

Mr Martha currently serves as senior vice-president of corporate strategy, business development, global communications and philanthropy. He also serves as the chief integration officer overseeing the merger with Covidien.

He originally joined the company in 2011 following a 19-year spell with GE Healthcare, occupying key roles in business leadership, corporate development, strategic marketing and sales management.

Mr Martha has been promoted to succeed Christopher O'Connell, who is leaving Medtronic to become chief executive officer of life science company Waters.

Omar Ishrak, Medtronic's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "I know Geoff will provide innovative and effective leadership for the RTG team as we continue to expand and grow our impact for those people around the world who could benefit from our restorative therapies."
