Colgate-Palmolive highlights organic growth trends in Q2 2015
Colgate-Palmolive has generated a global net sales total of $4.07 billion (2.61 billion pounds) during the second quarter of 2015.
This represented a decrease of 6.5 percent versus the second quarter of 2014 on a reported basis, but an improvement of 5.5 percent in organic terms. Global unit volume grew three percent and pricing rose by 2.5 percent, offset by a foreign exchange impact of 12 percent.
All operating divisions contributed to this worldwide organic sales growth, led by emerging markets, where organic sales grew by 7.5 percent despite challenging economic conditions in several countries.
Its leading share of the global toothpaste market strengthened to 45 percent for the year to date, while it also commands 34.1 percent of the manual toothbrush market.
Ian Cook, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased to have achieved another quarter of broad-based organic sales growth, driven by positive unit volume growth and higher pricing."
For the full year, the firm expects a low-single-digit earnings per share decline on a dollar basis, which would reflect a double-digit increase in currency-neutral terms.
