Qiagen hails strong performance in second quarter of 2015
Qiagen has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2015, during which it delivered an adjusted net sales total of $319.5 million (205.22 million pounds).
The company was able to deliver on its goals for higher adjusted net sales and earnings at constant exchange rates, with the figure being five percent higher year-on-year in these terms. Its adjusted operating income came to $78.9 million, while adjusted earnings per share stood at $0.26.
Innovative product lines identified as key growth drivers now generate about one-third of net sales, with the QIAsymphony automation system and QuantiFERON-TB lines highlighted as strong performers, while Qiagen's presence in the next-generation sequencing market is expanding rapidly
The US HPV testing product portfolio is currently experiencing a final year of significant pricing headwinds in 2015, but the strong performance of the rest of its portfolio helped to balance this out.
Peer Schatz, chief executive officer of Qiagen, said: "We achieved our goals to deliver growth in all customer classes and regions at constant exchange rates for the second quarter of 2015, more than offsetting the pressures on our US HPV franchise."
As such, the company reaffirmed its expectations to deliver higher constant exchange rate adjusted net sales and earnings in 2015.
