GlaxoSmithKline launches new consumer health business for northern Europe

9th September 2015

GlaxoSmithKline has announced the launch of a new northern European consumer health division as part of a wider reorganisation of its over-the-counter (OTC) products business.

The decision follows its recent agreement to form a new consumer health joint venture with Novartis, a deal that will make it the world's largest OTC manufacturer, generating more than six billion pounds a year in sales.

Carlton Lawson will lead the new division as area general manager, having served as general manager for consumer healthcare in the UK and Ireland since 2013.

Meanwhile, Darren Folker, the former general manager for Novartis in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, has been appointed sales director for Great Britain.

Mr Lawson said: "Our new company combines the best of both businesses, and we are committed to ensuring these strengths provide even greater benefit to our customers and consumers."

The company's portfolio of brands now includes products such as Sensodyne, Panadol, Nicotinell, Savlon, Corsodyl, Panadol, Aquafresh and Excedrin.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801800059-ADNFCR
