Sigma-Aldrich included in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
Sigma-Aldrich has been included in the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DSJI), recognising its strong commitment to corporate social responsibility.
This marks the third consecutive year that the company has been recognised by the Dow Jones list, which evaluates companies from around the world in terms of their social, environmental and economic performance.
Since 2010, Sigma-Aldrich has ramped up its efforts to reduce waste, energy and water usage and carbon emissions, as well as improving supply chain transparency, encourage volunteer work and increase its greener alternative products offering.
This year, the firm garnered a three percent overall increase in its performance as measured by the DJSI, including a seven percent improvement in its social score.
Rakesh Sachdev, Sigma-Aldrich's president and chief executive officer, said: "We place a high value on the impact being a better corporate citizen can have on our employees, our customers, our shareholders and the communities where we live and work."
