AbbVie opens new UK offices in Maidenhead
AbbVie has announced the official opening of new offices at its AbbVie House site in Maidenhead.
The opening ceremony was presided over by home secretary and MP for Maidenhead Theresa May, during which she gave a talk on the importance of pharmaceutical research in the country and the sector's role in new job creation.
AbbVie has invested around 11 million pounds in clinical trials in the UK since 2012 and employs more than 500 people in the region.
The move will also strengthen the company's strong relationships with the local Maidenhead community, with which it undertakes several philanthropic and volunteer initiatives.
Matt Regan, UK general manager of AbbVie, said: "Since last year, the number of our employees has grown by 30 percent; that fact, along with the opening of our new offices, demonstrate our continued commitment to the Maidenhead area."
This comes after the firm announced plans to further expand its medical device manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland earlier this year.
