Medtronic study shows durability of Valiant thoracic stent graft system

6th October 2015

Medtronic has announced study data showing the durability of its Valiant thoracic stent graft system over a five-year period.

Favourable data from the VALOR II study demonstrated the strong safety and efficacy of the Valiant system in the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms, with a high rate of freedom from aneurysm-related mortality and rare incidences of rupture or conversion to open surgery.

This innovative and minimally invasive treatment was evaluated among 160 patients undergoing thoracic endovascular aortic repair of aneurysms in the descending thoracic aorta.

It leverages the company's 17 years of thoracic stent graft experience and innovation and has been proven in more than 70,000 patients.

Daveen Chopra, vice-president and general manager of Medtronic's aortic business, said: "The VALOR II study proves the durability of the system and our commitment to clinical research and improving patient outcomes with an objective to settle for nothing less."

The company also recently announced the completion of its acquisition of Twelve, the developer of a new transcatheter mitral valve replacement device.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801802436-ADNFCR
