Orbital Media chief highlights potential role of holograms in marketing
Orbital Media's chief executive officer Peter Brady has suggested that forward-thinking comms professionals should be putting thought into the role holograms could play in their future marketing efforts.
Speaking to PRWeek, he observed that the advent of devices such as Holus, HoloLens and Holho Smart are bringing holographic technology close to mainstream adoption than ever before.
Applications for holograms are already being developed by the entertainment and gaming industries, but Mr Brady believes they could also be used as a valuable tool by marketers to enhance the customer experience.
For example, users can interact with 3D images that allow them to visualise a product right in front of them, or be talked through a potentially complex medical procedure by a professional in an accessible way.
The Orbital chief noted that virtual reality is already being used to provide interactive video responses to customer product queries, meaning holograms could be a logical next step.
Mr Brady said: "This technology has the power to engage with consumers via their mobile devices, increasing empathy and knowledge. Bring the two together and the result: a revolution in brand communications."
