Merck Sharp and Dohme to present new hepatitis data at 2015 Liver Meeting
Merck Sharp and Dohme has announced that it will be presenting new data on its investigational hepatitis C treatment portfolio at a forthcoming medical meeting.
The company will be attending the 2015 Liver Meeting, the 66th annual scientific congress of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, in San Francisco between November 13th and 17th, where it will share findings on its product portfolio.
A range of data will be presented from more than 20 accepted abstracts, including information on late-stage investigational products such as elbasvir/grazoprevir, MK-36822 and MK-8408.
It is believed that these therapies will help health systems and physicians to address the burden of this disease, particularly for patients for whom current therapies may not be suitable.
Dr Eliav Barr, vice-president for infectious diseases at Merck Research Laboratories, said: "Merck is committed to evaluating our chronic hepatitis C investigational medicines in a broad range of patients and treatment durations to help address the global unmet needs that still exist."
The company announced data from a phase III trial of elbasvir/grazoprevir earlier this month, demonstrating its efficacy among hepatitis C patients with advanced chronic kidney disease.
