St Jude Medical study shows benefits of CardioMEMS HF System

12th November 2015

St Jude Medical has announced data from a new study that demonstrates the effectiveness of the CardioMEMS HF System in treating heart failure.

Results published in The Lancet have shown the long-term efficacy of the CardioMEMS HF System at reducing hospitalisations for patients with New York Heart Association Class III heart failure.

Prospective data from the CHAMPION study revealed that after 31 months of follow-up, heart failure patients managed with CardioMEMS HF experienced a 48 percent reduction in heart failure hospitalisations, compared to patients managed with the standard of care.

The study data covered an average period of around 31 months, thus indicating the extended benefit of haemodynamic monitoring in reducing heart failure hospitalisation in high-risk patients.

Dr Philip Adamson, medical director and vice-president of medical affairs for St Jude Medical, said: "This rigorous analysis showed a dramatic long-term impact for high-risk patients who were managed with the CardioMEMS HF System."

The system was recently named as one of the top medical innovations at Premier Inc's 2015 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801805617-ADNFCR
