Medtronic reports positive real-world data for Endurant AAA stent graft system
Medtronic has announced positive results from a real-world analysis of its Endurant AAA stent graft system.
The stent, which is selected for nearly one of every two endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repairs globally, has been shown to maintain durable and consistent outcomes at four years in real-world settings.
Data was taken from the global ENGAGE registry, which has enrolled more than 1,200 patients at 79 sites across six continents. Efficacy was consistent even in challenging anatomies, with low rates of aneurysm rupture and conversion to open surgery.
Freedom from aneurysm-related mortality at four years was 99.2 percent for the short neck cohort and 98.3 percent for standard-length necks.
Daveen Chopra, vice-president and general manager of the aortic business within Medtronic's aortic and peripheral vascular division, said: "Through dedication to clinical data and innovation in technology, we hope to expand endovascular aneurysm repair treatments to previously untreatable patient populations."
Earlier this month, the company commenced its new REALITY study, evaluating the benefits of its directional atherectomy and drug-coated balloon treatments.
