Sphere Medical showcases Proxima analyser at ICS annual meeting
Sphere Medical is attending the Intensive Care Society (ICS) State of the Art Meeting 2015 in London this week, where it is showcasing the benefits of its Proxima blood gas analyser.
The ICS annual meeting commenced on December 7th and continues until the 9th, with the potential application of the Proxima patient-dedicated blood gas analyser with isolation beds during winter flu outbreaks a key topic on the agenda for Sphere.
Designed to keep infection control simple and effective by minimising the number of openings of the arterial line for sampling, the device reduces the need for blood handling, keeping the samples uncontaminated and caregivers safe from infection.
These are the key benefits the manufacturer is looking to highlight for critical care personnel during this week's industry conference.
Dr Gavin Troughton at Sphere Medical said: "We believe that Proxima can offer real infection prevention and control benefits for the blood gas analysis of patients in isolation beds. Such benefits could be particularly important during a winter flu epidemic."
The Proxima device was launched in the UK last year and is able to deliver results rapidly at the patient's bedside.
