Beiersdorf study shows impact of Eucerin product on atopic dermatitis
Beiersdorf has reported data from a new study showing the benefits one of its Eucerin products can provide in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.
The company allied with the dermatology clinic of the University of Lubeck to carry out a double-blind clinical study assessing the performance of the active ingredient complex used in its AtopiControl product range.
AtopiControl contains ingredients such as licochalcone A from the liquorice root and omega-6 fatty acids from evening primrose oil and grapeseed oil. Over 84 days of treatment, AtopiControl lotion led to significantly longer symptom-free intervals.
This represents the first time that the symptom-free interval in cases of atopic dermatitis was shown to be extendable by a medical skincare regimen.
Dr Frank Rippke, a Beiersdorf researcher and physician, said: "This study is quite meaningful for health professionals because we were not only able to show a new stabilising effect of the active ingredients on the atopic skin condition; we used a completely new methodology."
