Agilent and 10x Genomics announce exome development collaboration
Agilent Technologies has formed a new collaboration with 10x Genomics to develop a potentially groundbreaking exome.
The aim of the project will be to allow discovery of important novel content within and around the exome by enabling phasing, access to previously unmappable loci, structural variation, and copy number detection.
This will be achieved through the use of complementary products by both companies, creating a streamlined workflow for 10x Genomics' Chromium platform using Agilent's SureSelect target enrichment technology.
It will deliver broad coverage and variant calling, including in hard-to-map regions of the genome, and will cover both exonic targets and additional loci to enhance phasing. As such, greater insight into complex genomic structural anomalies will be possible.
Herman Verrelst, Agilent's vice-president and general manager of its genomics division, said: "Our collaboration with 10x Genomics will advance the understanding of underlying causes of disease, and we are excited to be at the forefront of this innovation."
This comes after the firm agreed to extend its longstanding chip supply agreement with PerkinElmer last month.
