Mylan appoints new chief commercial officer

Mylan has announced the appointment of Anthony Mauro as its new chief commercial officer.

Mr Mauro currently serves as the company's North American president and has been with Mylan for more than 20 years. He has successfully led the North American unit, Mylan's largest commercial business, for four years.

In his new role, he will report directly to Mylan president Rajiv Malik and will assume responsibility for overseeing global sales excellence and operations for all commercial markets around the world.

Mr Mauro will continue in his current role as president of North America until a successor has been selected.

Mylan's chief executive officer Heather Bresch said: "Tony has demonstrated his ability to relentlessly drive innovation, provide our customers with exceptional and reliable service, and has maximised opportunities while overcoming challenges and consistently delivered strong financial performance."

It was also announced this week that Ms Bresch has been elected to serve as chair of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association's board of directors.
