Hologic launches Affirm dedicated prone biopsy system in Europe

4th March 2016

Hologic has announced the European launch of Affirm, a groundbreaking prone biopsy system, during the European Congress of Radiology.

The device is the first dedicated prone biopsy system capable of both 2D and 3D imaging-guided breast biopsies, and will allow radiologists to more accurately target lesions found during 3D Mammography screening, as well as other screening modalities.

Key attributes of Affirm include its exceptional imaging, improved workflow and seamless, 360-degree access to the breast, all of which will help clinicians to deliver the best possible patient experience.

This is the latest addition to the firm's breast biopsy portfolio and will complement existing offerings such as the Selenia Dimensions mammography system and Affirm upright biopsy system.

Pete Valenti, Hologic's division president for breast and skeletal health solutions, said: "We are excited to bring the Affirm prone biopsy system to the European market, and in doing so, mark one of the biggest steps forward in prone biopsy technology since the systems were first introduced over 20 years ago."

The company also announced this week that Christopher Coughlin has joined its board of directors.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801814088-ADNFCR
