MSD Animal Health’s Bravecto Spot-On recommended for EU approval
MSD Animal Health's new flea and tick protection product Bravecto Spot-On has been recommended for European regulatory approval.
The Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP) of the European Medicines Agency has adopted a positive final opinion on marketing authorisation for the veterinary medicinal product, which is intended for both cats and dogs.
Based on the chewable version approved for dogs in 2014, Bravecto Spot-On offers 12 weeks of flea and tick protection for both cats and dogs with the same active ingredient, fluralaner, as the Bravecto chew.
It is applied using the company's unique Twist'n'Use style of pipette to maximise ease of use, and can also be utilised as a treatment for flea allergy dermatitis.
More than 13 million doses of the original form of Bravecto have been dispensed in 60 countries since its introduction. If approved, Bravecto Spot-On will be the first product to provide immediate and persistent systemic flea and tick protection for cats.
