Philips launches new Sonicare for Kids Connected toothbrush
Philips has announced the launch of its new Sonicare for Kids Connected toothbrush at the recent Dentistry Show in Birmingham.
The rechargeable power toothbrush is designed specifically for children between the ages of three and ten years. It generates 500 strokes per second and offers the ability to remove up to 75 percent more plaque in hard-to-reach places than a manual toothbrush.
The brush also incorporates wireless Bluetooth technology to allow it to sync up with an interactive app to help motivate children to brush more effectively and independently.
Children will interact with a mascot character called Sparkly and take part in educational games that teach them proper technique and encourage them to brush for longer periods, building up to the professionally-recommended target of two minutes.
The app also offers a dashboard feature to allow parents to keep tabs on their child's progress and set up customised milestones and incentives.
Paediatric dentist Dr Kat Thayalan, commenting on the launch, said: "The new Sonicare for Kids Connected toothbrush offers a unique tool to help children address the oral health challenges they face. The use of Bluetooth wireless technology will help engage the 'i-generation' with their own oral health."
