Zoetis and University of Surrey launch innovation centre

28th April 2016

Zoetis has partnered with the University of Surrey to launch a new innovation centre called the Veterinary Health Innovation Engine (vHive).

This multi-disciplinary centre is designed to promote the development and adoption of digital innovation in animal health, including wearables, apps and sensors to capture data and monitor animals' wellbeing.

More than 127 million pounds has been spent by the university in developing vHive, which enompasses the 5G Innovation Centre, the Centre for the Digital Economy in the Surrey Business School and the new School of Veterinary Medicine.

Zoetis will contribute its world-class capacities in developing innovative products and services, as well as working to translate new technologies developed by the centre into new products for its customers.

It is thought that the research will help to improve understanding of animal health, aid the identification of health issues and facilitate early warning surveillance of population threats such as the Schmallenberg virus and Bluetongue epidemics.

Dr Alejandro Bernal of Zoetis said: "We are delighted to be partnering with the University of Surrey as we can benefit from complementary areas of expertise, gathering information and building practical solutions to enable vets and farmers to perform even better in their business."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801817551-ADNFCR
