Merck Sharp and Dohme to present new clinical data at ADA 2016

13th May 2016

Merck Sharp and Dohme will be presenting new study data on its diabetes therapies at this year's American Diabetes Association (ADA) scientific sessions.

More than 20 scientific data presentations will be hosted by the company at the symposium in New Orleans from June 10th to 14th, including findings from clinical trials and real-world research.

Investigational clinical trial data to be presented includes the first phase III results for ertugliflozin, an oral SGLT2 inhibitor in development with Pfizer for type 2 diabetes, and for MK-1293, a follow-on biologic insulin glargine candidate for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Additional analyses will also be presented from the TECOS cardiovascular safety trial of Januvia, which has already been approved as a means of improving glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Dr Peter Stein, vice-president for late-stage development for the company's diabetes and endocrinology unit, said: "At Merck, we have a long-term commitment to diabetes research and advancing the care of people living with diabetes around the world."

According to the company's most recent financial report, the Januvia franchise was its single highest-grossing pharmaceutical product during the first quarter of 2016.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801818383-ADNFCR
