Dentsply Sirona launches new Optisleep appliance for sleep apnoea

Dentsply Sirona has announced the launch of Optisleep, a new virtually-planned oral appliance treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea developed using the SICAT Air solution.

The 3D solution is designed to facilitate the analysis of the upper airway, allowing the workflow of appliance-based treatment to be visualised completely digitally. This makes it easy to order oral appliances to reduce or alleviate snoring and mild to medium obstructive sleep apnoea.

This method has made it possible for the company to create Optisleep, a two-part appliance that offers a high level of comfort and compliance, with a sturdy material and stable connector design.

It allows the patient to close their mouth completely and breathe normally, with exchangeable connectors available in ten sizes and to guarantee optimal positioning.

The company said: "Optisleep includes all of the teeth to ensure an optimum fit. The virtual planning of the oral appliance also takes the mandibular joints into account."

SICAT was established in 2004 as a joint venture between HICAT and Sirona, dedicated to the development of user-friendly and cost-efficient software and hardware.
