Hill-Rom launches VisiVest System for airway clearance

Hill-Rom has announced the launch of its new VisiVest System, a new airway clearance solution developed with cooperation from Qualcomm Life.

The connected therapeutic solution for patients in need of airway clearance therapy combines industry-leading high-frequency chest-wall oscillation technology with wireless connectivity powered from Qualcomm Life.

VisiVest functions by inflating and deflating rapidly, applying gentle pressure to the chest wall and loosening mucus from the bronchial walls, moving it to larger airways where it can be cleared by coughing or suctioning.

It provides therapy adherence data to help inform decisions caregivers make for their patients, resulting in a reduced risk of respiratory infections and hospitalisations, as well as lower medical costs.

A pilot study conducted over the past few months has seen 160 patients from seven cystic fibrosis clinics adopting VisiVest, leading to positive responses from patients and clinicians alike.
