Biogen names pharmaceutical operations and technology head
Biogen has announced the appointment of Paul McKenzie as executive vice-president for pharmaceutical operations and technology, effective as of July 1st.
Ms McKenzie will become a member of the Biogen management team and has been promoted from his previous post as senior vice-president of global biologics manufacturing and technical operations.
In his new role, he will be tasked with leading key functions such as asset management, technical development, global manufacturing , supply chain operations, quality and engineering, as well as overseeing the construction and operation of the firm's advanced biologics manufacturing facility in Solothurn, Switzerland.
He has been appointed as the success to John Cox, who was named chief executive officer of a new Biogen spin-off company dedicated to advancing treatments for haemophilia last month.
Dr George Scangos, chief executive officer of Biogen, said: "With his extensive technical and development expertise, we believe Paul is ideally suited to lead the next phase of growth across Biogen's development and manufacturing operations."
This comes after the company also appointed Dr Michael Ehlers as its new executive vice-president for research and development last month.
