Smith and Nephew has highlighted the positive momentum of its business development during the second quarter of 2016.

In the three months ending on July 2nd 2016, the firm's revenue total came to $1.19 billion (900.99 million pounds), up by two percent year over year on both a reported and an underlying basis.

Revenue growth of three percent was seen in established markets, with the performance of the US market up by four percent, although emerging market revenues declined due to the weaknesses in China and the Gulf States.

Key highlights of the quarter included the strong performance of the firm's sports medicine joint repair and knee implant franchises, while the integration of Blue Belt Technologies proceeded according to plan.

For the first half of the year, the firm's revenues came to $2.33 billion, up three percent in underlying terms and by two percent on a reported basis.

Olivier Bohuon, chief executive officer of Smith and Nephew, said: "More broadly, with strong core businesses, a growing pipeline of innovative products … and more efficient operations, we are confident in our positioning and long-term prospects."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801822828-ADNFCR
