Henry Schein achieves further growth in second quarter of 2016

8th August 2016

Henry Schein has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2016, during which it generated a net sales total of $2.9 billion (2.22 billion pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent, continuing its recent strong momentum. Its North American dental sales came in below expectations, but its medical, animal health, and technology and value-added service businesses compensated for this.

Its strong overall performance came despite challenging economic and industry conditions, and means the company's net sales for the first half of the year came to $5.6 billion, up by 9.7 percent on the corresponding period of 2015.

The firm now expects adjusted diluted earnings per share of between $6.55 to $6.60 for the full year, which would represent year-on-year growth of ten to 11 percent. Further company restructuring initiatives are also planned for the second half of the year.

Stanley Bergman, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, said: "We believe our business model and strategic plan, including our continued investments, will drive our growth over the long term, and we remain extremely well-positioned in each of the vertical markets we serve."
