Baxter’s Sigma Spectrum system earns praise for ease of use
Baxter has announced that its Sigma Spectrum Infusion System has been rated highly for its compliance and ease of use benefits in a new report from KLAS.
The Baxter system was ranked as the leader among large-volume infusion pumps in terms of its drug library compliance, overall ease of use and ease of navigating the drug library by KLAS, a research firm that specialises in monitoring the performance of software, services and medical equipment vendors.
Clinicians hailed the Sigma Spectrum device for the ease with which they are able to choose from a curated list of medications and fluids within medically appropriate dose ranges, allowing them to identify potential programming mistakes before they reach the patient.
Additionally, the system was rated highest out of the available options in response to the question of how well the pump's user interface contributes to patient safety.
Other key features of the device include its ability to integrate with leading electronic medical record systems such as Cerner and Epic to enable auto-documentation of data.
David Ferguson, global franchise head of Baxter's fluid systems business, said: "These findings validate our design philosophy, and provide examples of why Sigma Spectrum has achieved the highest drug library compliance rate in the industry."
