Boots UK supports 2016 Missing Type blood donation campaign
Boots UK has pledged its support to this year's Missing Type campaign, organised by NHS Blood and Transplant.
The international initiative sees high-profile brands and organisations removing the As, Bs and Os from their logos to represent the three major blood types and highlight the pressing need for new donors to come forward.
Not only has Boots removed the Os from its branding to coincide with the campaign, but it also actively encourages its 60,000 employees across the UK to sign up to the donor register and provides support when they wish to do so.
Staff are allowed to attend appointments during working hours if they are unable to do so during their own time, while customers can opt in to the organ donation scheme via their Boots Advantage Cards, with 2.09 million people having done so.
Marc Donovan, chief pharmacist at Boots UK, said: "We're really delighted to support this year's Missing Type campaign and we hope that our colleagues and customers will join us and help fill in the gaps by registering as new donors."
This year's Missing Type campaign is being organised as a collaboration between 25 blood services from 21 countries.
