Denplan to launch Sugar-Free September campaign this week
Denplan has announced the launch of Sugar-Free September, a new oral health campaign that will run throughout the month.
The initiative kicks off later this week and encourages people across the UK to curb their sugar intake for 30 days, in order to improve their oral and general health. To coincide, the company has launched an accompanying website offering information on a number of relevant topics.
This includes guidance on hidden sugars and the health risks of excess sugar consumption, as well as tips on how to cut back on sugar and information on the importance of regular dentist visits and better oral health regimens.
According to a survey conducted by Denplan and YouGov earlier this year, 28 percent of people in the UK are already taking steps to watch or reduce their sugar intake, while 27 percent are happy with their current intake and have no plans to change.
Meanwhile, 15 percetn said they actively avoid eating sugar, nine percent would like to reduce their sugar intake and plan to do so soon, and eight percent want to reduce their intake but are not sure how.
Henry Clover, Denplan's chief dental officer, said: "We can start encouraging people to be aware of their recommended daily sugar limits, to read and understand food and drink labels, to make healthy choices, and to limit how frequently they have sugar throughout the day."
