GE Healthcare launches new Vivid iq cardiovascular ultrasound system

GE Healthcare has announced the global commercial launch of a new high-end portable compact cardiovascular ultrasound system called Vivid iq.

Weighing just 4.5 kg, the system offers a high standard of image quality, a rugged, cleanable design optimised for tough conditions, and an intuitive touchscreen interface that reduces the number of keystrokes required.

It has been optimised to deliver a high standard of performance whether it is being used in a standard operating theatre, emergency room or in a remote location, with its battery-operated design and small footprint making it ideal for portable usage.

The manufacturer consulted cardiologists and interventional cardiologists to get a sense of their needs and daily challenges before designing the Vivid iq system.

Al Lojewski, general manager of cardiovascular ultrasound for GE Healthcare, said: "We're confident the Vivid iq can help improve patient care and make ultrasound more portable and accessible for patients around the world."

This comes after the firm recently signed an exclusive agreement to deliver film for single-use bioprocess systems with Sealed Air Corporation.
