Beckman Coulter supplies first DxH 500 analyser to University of Chester

20th September 2016

Beckman Coulter has announced the installation of the UK's first DxH 500 haematology analyser at the University of Chester's Institute of Medicine.

The fully-automated haematology system is specifically designed for low-volume workloads of up to 60 samples per hour and has been optimised for ease of use and compact scale, while retaining the ability to offer a full blood count with a full five-part white blood cell differential.

It is 27 cm wide with an inbuilt touchscreen monitor and requires only two analytical reagents and a cleaner, using up to 50 percent less reagent than other low-volume analysers.

The university plans to use the DxH 500 in its postgraduate clinical research projects. It works closely with the Countess of Chester Hospital on many of these, meaning a wide range of blood samples will be available for analysis.

As such, the institute required a system that was simple enough for students to use, while still being able to provide comprehensive results for in-depth clinical research projects.

Jasmine Stanley-Ahmed, lab technician at the University of Chester's Institute of Medicine, said: "As our experience with Beckman Coulter analysers has been so good, when we heard of the launch of the DxH 500, we were confident enough to buy it unseen."
