Thornton and Ross launches new eczema consultation tool
Thornton and Ross has introduced a new tool designed to help primary and secondary healthcare professionals improve eczema management.
The TalkingEczema tool was funded and developed by Thornton and Ross Dermatology in partnership with a panel of dermatology specialists, with the aim of helping healthcare professionals to deliver more personalised and holistic consultations.
Designed to take place within the course of a typical consultation, the tool consists of a 12-statement questionnaire and results graph. Patients complete the questionnaire prior to meeting their doctor, giving a visual snapshot of their physical and mental wellbeing.
This makes it easier to plot a course of action with the input of the patient that takes into account their individual condition, encouraging more personalised care with better adherence.
Dr Brian Malcolm, community dermatologist and committee member of the Primary Care Dermatology Society, who helped develop the tool, said: "Facilitating richer and more focused discussion during consultations to help empower patients to manage their condition was a fundamental aim in the development of the TalkingEczema tool."
