Perrigo licenses anti-drug abuse technology from Highland Pharmaceuticals

Perrigo has licensed technology for use in the fight against methamphetamine drug abuse from Highland Pharmaceuticals.

The company has signed an exclusive licensing agreement for the Tarex methamphetamine blocking technology, as well as securing distribution rights to Zephrex-D, which was developed using Tarex.

Zephrex-D has been proven to be more than 98 percent effective at blocking one of the more common domestic methods of illegal meth production. The deal will see Perrigo immediately begin distribution of Zephrex-D to its retail customers.

Additionally, Perrigo plans to integrate the Tarex technology into a number of its store brands and retailer own-brand pseudoephedrine HCI products in future, further underlining its commitment to tackling meth drug abuse.
