Dentsply Sirona delivers 40,000th Heliodent Plus X-ray tube assembly

17th October 2016

Dentsply Sirona has celebrated a milestone with the delivery of its 40,000th Heliodent Plus X-ray tube assembly since the product was introduced in 2009.

The intuitively operable system offers superior image quality and has proven a great success for the company, having originally been unveiled at the 2009 International Dental Show.

Dentsply Sirona can trace back the lineage of the technology to Siemens-Reiniger-Werke's Rontgenkugel X-ray sphere in 1934. As the product continued to evolve, the Heliodent branding was first introduced in 1955.

The basic technological principle of the emitter has remained almost completely unchanged since then, though it has gained a range of additional customisability options and user interface improvements.

From 1978 onwards, the Heliodent machine has been produced at the company's Bensheim site. Since that time, more than 180,000 intraoral X-ray devices have been manufactured.

Jorg Haist, head of imaging systems product management at Dentsply Sirona, said: "The numbers speak for themselves. We are delighted that the demand among our customers in the intraoral sector for our high-quality products continues to grow."
