Eusa Pharma acquires rights to cancer drug Isqette from Apeiron Biologics

Eusa Pharma has agreed a deal with Apeiron Biologics to acquire exclusive global commercialisation rights to the oncology product dinutuximab beta, also known as Isqette.

The immunotherapy is available for the treatment of high-risk neuroblastoma in Europe under a managed access programme. The treatment has been given orphan drug designation in the US and EU and is currently under review for full marketing authorisation by the European Medicines Agency.

Following the acquisition, Eusa Pharma will continue the managed access programme, before promoting the drug to oncologists through its specialty sales team once it has been approved in Europe.

The firm also expects to apply for US and Japanese approval of Isqette in 2017. It will commercialise the product directly through its established US infrastructure and through its international network of partners in other territories.

Under the terms of the deal, Eusa Pharma will pay Apeiron an upfront fee, with a portion contingent on EU approval, plus regulatory milestone payments in other key territories and royalties on future product sales.
