Abbott named among world’s top science companies to work for

Abbott has been named as one of the best science-based companies to work for in the world by a leading publication.

The distinguished journal Science has included Abbott on its top employers list for the 13th consecutive year, after evaluating it on 23 metrics, including financial strength, adaptation to change and the quality of its research-driven environment.

Nearly 6,000 scientists from around the world voted to produce the 2016 edition of the list.

Key qualities that have helped Abbott to earn this accolade include its focus on cutting-edge science that enhances human lives and the awards schemes it has in place to recognise the best work its staff produce.

Dr John Frels, chair of Abbott's scientific governing board, said: "We strive to bring in the best and brightest scientists and engineers to work on some of the biggest problems in healthcare today. This helps us to create new, breakthrough innovations that change people's lives."

Fortune magazine magazine has named Abbott as one of the most admired companies in the US every year since 1983, with Working Mother, DiversityInc and the National Association for Female Executives also recognising it as a top employer.
