Biogen names new members of Bioverativ management team

Biogen has announced the appointment of two additional members of the management team of its new haemophilia spin-off company Bioverativ.

Dr Rogerio Vivaldi will serve as executive vice-president and chief global therapeutic operations officer of the new company, and will take responsibility for all aspects of its commercial organisation, including oversight of sales and marketing for its lead products Eloctate and Alprolix.

He boasts more than 20 years of experience in delivering orphan products to patients worldwide, with former employers including Genzyme, Spark Therapeutics and Minerva Neurosciences.

Meanwhile, John Greene joins from Willis Group to serve as Bioverativ's executive vice-president and chief financial officer. He will be responsible for the financial and fiscal management of Bioverativ's operations, working closely with its business development and research divisions.

Dr George Scangos, chief executive officer of Biogen, said: "Biogen is committed to positioning Bioverativ for success as it prepares to carry forward our dedication to the haemophilia community."

The spin-off of Bioverativ is on track to be completed in early 2017 and will be dedicated to the discovery, research, development and commercialisation of treatments for haemophilia and other blood disorders.
