Qiagen launches new CALR mutation assay in Europe

Qiagen has announced the launch of a new CE-IVD Mark-approved calreticulin mutation assay for the diagnosis of myeloproliferative neoplasms in Europe.

The new Ipsogen CALR RGQ PCR Kit is able to detect the two major types of calreticulin mutation in genomic DNA samples, as well as additional mutations in the calreticulin exon 9 region.

It simplifies testing by covering various relevant mutations in a real-time PCR-based assay, delivering multiple clinical results in less than one working day. It runs on Qiagen's QIAsymphony and Rotor-Gene, utilising the CE-IVD-approved Rotor-Gene Q MDx 5Plex HRM Platform real-time cycler.

The new kit is also highly complementary to the existing Ipsogen JAK2 RGQ PCR Kit, a market-leading solution for the detection of V617F mutations in the janus kinase 2 gene, as calreticulin mutations can be identified from the same patient sample.
