Mast launches fast-acting Immunocatch Norovirus testing system
Mast has announced the launch of its new Immunocatch Norovirus assay, a new means of rapidly and efficiently testing for the presence of norovirus.
The lateral flow device is an easy-to-use and cost-effective testing system that guarantees results in just 15 minutes, as well as offering a range of unique benefits to further simplify laboratory handling to facilitate out-of-hours testing and responses to outbreak situations.
The simple three-step process eliminates sample extraction and preparation, with no lysis or pipette required, while effortless dispensing can be achieved using the sample dropper provided.
Norovirus is one of the most common causative agents of infectious gastroenteritis in the UK and Ireland and is generally spread through contact with an infected person or contaminated surfaces, objects, food and water.
The condition is highly transmissible and stable in the environment, requiring only a few viral particles to cause disease symptoms, which creates particular challenges within semi-closed environments such as hospitals, nursing homes and schools.
