GE Healthcare and Boston Children’s Hospital ally to tackle childhood disease

GE Healthcare has announced a new partnership with Boston Children's Hospital that aims to develop new ways of tackling childhood diseases.

The collaboration to develop and commercialise digital solutions to advance the diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions affecting children, with the first project targeting diseases of the brain.

Initial efforts will focus on improving the diagnostic accuracy of paediatric brain scans by providing real-time contextual information to help radiologists interpret the images they are seeing.

The system will come pre-loaded with normative reference scans from young children of different ages, allowing them to be used as a benchmark when reading scans of paediatric patients.

This application will be the first of many that will leverage the high-volume computing power of the GE Health Cloud and the clinical knowledge of Boston Children's Hospital's radiology team.
