Agilent and Transcriptic announce discovery biology collaboration

Agilent Technologies has announced a new technology partnership with Transcriptic in the field of discovery biology.

The companies will seek to provide a new solution for convenient, broad-scale synthetic and discovery biology research, leveraging the benefits of Transcriptic's automated discovery biology platform that facilitates scalable life science research through a simple web interface.

Transcriptic will add multiple Agilent genomics product lines for mutagenesis and cloning to the protocol library within the Transcriptic robotic cloud laboratory, with the first – QuikChange Lightning – used to accelerate the generation of mutations for large protein function projects.

Providing cutting-edge Agilent bioreagents in a robotic laboratory setting will allow customers to automate and optimise workflows, while accessing key laboratory functions and data via the cloud.

This new combined solution was recently presented at the iGEM 2016 Giant Jamboree to synthetic biologists from around the world.

Herman Verrelst, Agilent's vice-president and general manager of the company's genomics solutions and clinical applications divisions, said: "Transcriptic's services are validated, scalable, and accessible from anywhere in the world, which will enhance the market for our industry-leading reagents."
