Laborie’s Portascan 3D earns recognition for technological innovation

Laborie has announced that the healthcare performance improvement company Vizient has selected its Portascan 3D bladder scanner for innovative technology designation.

The designation, which recognises products that bring improvements to the healthcare industry, was based on reviews of the device by hospital experts who attended Vizient's Innovative Technology Exchange in September 2016.

Laborie's advanced 3D automatic bladder scanner offers live pre-scan functionality and does not require annual calibration, allowing the user to quickly find the bladder to rapidly and accurately calculate the volume.

It provides reliable information to reduce the frequency of catheterisation and risk of urinary tract infections, as well as being a valuable tool for providing post-void residual volume to assess possible urinary retention.

Medical technology suppliers who attended the Innovative Technology Exchange got a chance to assess their product and gain direct feedback from clinical experts and healthcare providers, who described the impact the product has had on improving clinical care.
